Dhaka→Oakville

I moved from Dhaka to Oakville and could not find a single thing that tasted like home. So I built it. That instinct is the whole of how I work. Events, brand campaigns and partnerships, produced end to end.

Who you are working with

Zoya Ahmed · Oakville, Ontario
Zoya Ahmed, founder of Ghee Mama Productions

I run Ghee Mama Productions from Oakville. It is deliberately small, which means the person who pitches the work is the person who produces it. You do not get handed to an account manager halfway through.

Ten years across agency, nonprofit and founder roles. I also co-founded a construction SaaS platform, which is where the operational side comes from: the SOPs, the timelines, and the belief that a good event is a repeatable process rather than a lucky one.

Most events are decorated. Very few are produced.

It started with a jar of ghee and turned into a company, a booth, a room full of people, and three sold-out events. The difference between a gathering that is decorated and one that is produced is everything behind the day: the concept, the vendors, the run of show, the partnerships, and the content that comes out of it. I have spent ten years on the second version, and I would rather tell you what to cut than sell you more of it.

Selected work

Three events · all sold out
Autumn Chai
Autumn Chai 2025

The first one. Sold out.

Context

A seasonal gathering built around chai, in Oakville, with no template to work from. Every element had to be made or found.

Process

The room, the table, the signage, the run of the evening. Produced end to end, including the vendors and the partnerships behind it.

Result

Sold out. The format became the template for everything after it.

Winter Chai
Winter Chai 2025

The second one, and bigger.

Context

The first event had proved the format. The question was whether it would hold with more people, more vendors and a colder month.

Process

Grew the partnership list, tightened the run of show, and kept the production in house rather than handing it to a venue.

Result

Sold out again. The partnership list passed fifty.

Spring Edit
Spring Edit 2026

The one with a point of view.

Context

By the third event the audience knew the format. It needed an idea rather than another date on the calendar.

Process

A curated edit rather than a market. Fewer vendors, chosen, with the styling and the content built around a single narrative.

Result

Sold out. Two hundred pieces of content came out of the three events.

A boutique agency, not a big one, and that is the point.

What I do

Five things, done properly

Event and experiential production

Concept, design, vendors, run of show, and the day itself. Produced, not coordinated.

Brand and marketing strategy

Positioning, campaign planning and the content that comes out of it.

Partnerships and community

Fifty-plus partnerships built with creators, sponsors and local businesses.

Content and campaign delivery

Short-form video, photography and social, produced as part of the work rather than after it.

Operations and systems

Process, SOPs and the unglamorous machinery that makes an event repeatable.

Tell me what you are planning.

An event, a launch, a campaign, or something that does not have a name yet. You will get an honest answer about whether it is worth doing, and roughly what it takes.
